Some will definitely not agree with the title . They will say ” PTI performed well ” . I would like to give an advise to such people ” Face the reality as it is , not as it was or as you wish it to be ” . Reality can only be changed by replacing it with another reality . Right now the reality is that despite being in power , PTI lost so many seats .
( 15 vs 11 )
Many factors played important role in producing such disappointing results in by-elections . Success belongs to those who are humble enough to identify and rectify their mistakes .
The term ” electables ” may be used for politicians who switch between parties and because of their standing , are seen as dependable vote banks. They are also called ” LOTA ” and they are usually the ones who believe in only one agenda , their own agenda of making money , building their own political career and get famous . Majority of the PTI supporters are ideological , they believe in ideology of changing the old rotten system with the help of honest , dedicated and selfless people and thus they reject this ” lootacracy ” .
Imran Khan said it on 5th July , 2018 that we need electables and money to win the elections . But by-elections results proved him wrong .
PTI supporters tolerated these electables in general elections but now they are furious and believe that ideology of PTI has been compromised .
In NA-131 by-elections , there was a contest between Saad rafique and Humayun Akhtar
Humayun is a ” well known Lota ” . He has been changing parties like anything . People of Lahore , especially the voters of PTI rejected him because he is not ” True Face ” of PTI . Voters called him ” Imported Bogus Material ” . He is just another electable , another businessman , another politician busy in building his own political career . He has nothing to do with the ideology of PTI . PTI supporters wanted to see ” Waleed Iqbal ” as a candidate from this area . PTI supporters and voters believe that despite being an ideological worker and an honest man Walid has been ignored by Imran Khan .
In NA-53 , the candidate was Ali Nawaz Awan who is an ideological worker and he is famous for being honest and hardworking . He won and voters say that they voted for him because he is not just another ” Lota ” .
Similar is the case with Alamgir Khan in NA-243 who achieved success . Voters believe that he is not only young but his hands are not stained with corruption . He is famous for his campaign #FixIt and common people of Karachi think that he can fix their problems unlike some electable who only seek money and luxurious life style .
Electables are blackmailers and their greed has no limits . It was proved in the case of NA-56 by elections . Major Tahir Sadiq , an imported material from PMLN couldn’t digest the respect PTI gave him . His hunger for more power led to defeat of PTI . He wanted to give ticket to his son in NA-56 . When party denied the ticket he started supporting PMLN candidate . Imran Khan should sack such blackmailers or at-least hold some inquiry .
Point to be noted is that Major Tahir Sadiq is a close relative of Chaudhery brothers of ( PMLQ ) , so will Imran Khan be able to take action against this man as Imran needs support of Chaudhery brothers in NA .
Internal Party Politics
Politics ultimately involves a clash of ideas . Democracy withing a party and difference of opinion is a healthy thing but fight for power and desire to achieve more sometimes lead to internal groupings within political parties which lead to divisions and fights . Such rivalries emerged in past few years among the ranks of PTI and lead to selection of bad candidates and in the end it was PTI VS PTI .
The best example is NA-35 where Molvi Nasim and Nasir Khan both from PTI fought for ticket . Nasim got the ticket and Nasir instead of supporting him and following the code of conduct of PTI , stood against Molvi Nasim as an independent candidate . Votes were divided among two faces of PTI and lead to victory of the candidate of MMA , Zahid Akram Durrani .
Unity is strength , PTI has certainly forgotten this old but precious saying .
Its sad reality that after general elections all the ministers and senior leadership got so busy that they could not manage the time for campaigns . Imran Khan himself couldn’t motivate the voters to come out and vote the way he did in general elections . He was over confident i think after his victory in general elections .
Majority of the workers of PTI believe now that there is gap between party leadership and them . Many say that after winning elections the leadership of PTI has got ” SARYA ” in their necks and they are full of pride . Such attitude disappoints common worker especially the ideological workers and he loses his interest in the end .
Poor Policies , U-Turns and Inflation
This is a debatable section but one cannot deny that these factors played important role in determining by-elections results . A poor man whose life revolves around ” Roti , Kapra and Bills ” has nothing to do with corruption etc . All he wants is ” Sasti Roti ” and less inflation . Unfortunately , whatever the reasons may be , PTI couldn’t satisfy the needs of a poor Pakistani . Gas price hike , increased electricity rates and devaluation of Pakistani currency all burdened common Pakistani.
It seems that anti encroachment drive has also backfired . There has been a public uproar against the operation which has put the authorities under pressure. People took to the social media to express their anger against the operation. Carrying out such operation before by-elections was bold and brave move and results of elections show that it has made many traders and people unhappy with PTI .
Heavy traffic challans are also not digestible by poor people yet. Although , its again a good policy, it can improve the worse traffic condition in Pakistan but can a poor Pakistni Rickshaw driver afford a challan of 5000 and still love you Mr PM ? He will definitely start hating the government . PTI should try to change mind sets of people before implementing such stuff .
Then the U-Turns , not going into the details , its evident that when you take a U Turn , you lose trust of your voter . One day you say one thing , other day you say entirely different thing . Why would your voter believe in you in this way ? You voter and supporter will remain confused and in constant fear that you can change your decision anytime . Before elections PTI used to call everything ” A ” , now they have not only started calling everything ” B ” but they have also started defending it just like previous governments . People voted for ” CHANGE ” not for changing policies after coming in power .
What To Do ?
PTI had good chance to get stable after winning maximum seats in by election . PTI lost a golden opportunity and PTI must realize this fact instead of becoming stubborn . PTI’s reliance on PMLQ has further increased as they managed to get 2 more seats in NA . Identifying a mistake is the key step towards achieving better results . Be humble , value common and ideological workers more , stop relaying on electables , give more chances to young blood , increase communication gap between common man and senior leadership , let the people feel that PTI is awami party , stop taking U-Turns , decide one thing and stick to it , try to gain trust of voters , become poor man friendly party and start giving relief to a common Pakistani .
Trust Me , VICTORY WILL BE YOURS !
